In the section \"Africa schreiben\" a number of works are examined that, although written in German, have reference to Africa as socio-political or cultural construct. The authors use different theoretical perspectives to illuminate the ways in which these constructs and its reception have historical underpinnings. The general contributions shift the focus to Europe in its examination of historical and modern works of fiction.
