Introduction:
The CAREC region, comprising countries such as Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan, has witnessed significant growth in recent years, driven by factors such as increased investment, improved infrastructure, and technological advancements. However, the development of e-commerce infrastructure remains a challenge, with many CAREC countries lagging behind in terms of adoption and utilization of digital technologies.

Objectives:
The primary objective of this technical study is to assess the current state of e-commerce infrastructure within the CAREC region and identify key areas for improvement. The study will examine the following aspects:

• Internet payment systems: Evaluate the availability, reliability, and security of online payment gateways, payment processors, and other payment services in CAREC countries. Assess the extent to which these systems facilitate cross-border e-commerce transactions and comply with international payment standards.


• Delivery infrastructure: Assess the quality and efficiency of logistics services, including transportation, warehousing, and last-mile delivery, in CAREC countries. Explore the role of technology, such as drones, blockchain, and IoT, in enhancing the speed, reliability, and transparency of delivery processes.


• Logistics infrastructure: Evaluate the physical infrastructure, such as roads, ports, and airports, that support e-commerce operations in CAREC countries. Identify the challenges and opportunities associated with improving the connectivity and efficiency of logistics networks.
