Valdemar, a mischievous little wolf, may appear small, but he possesses a fierce determination. With a mouthful of fish fingers, he eagerly consumes one, two, and three, relishing the delicious taste. However, his father reminds him that he must first finish his plate of peas before indulging in his favorite chocolate ice cream. Valdemar's initial reaction is a mixture of reluctance and disdain. Peas, he argues, are green and round and utterly pointless. He already possesses long ears, so why bother with the extra effort of eating them?

Little sister Lin, on the other hand, consumes pea after pea, her small hands eagerly shoveling the vegetables into her mouth. She soon holds a glistening ice cream cone in her hand, a reward for her diligent eating. Valdemar's frustration grows, feeling that it is unfair that Lin can enjoy ice cream without having to endure the taste of peas. But then, an idea strikes him like a lightning bolt. Valdemar knows exactly how to get his hands on that ice cream without having to consume a single pea.

With a mischievous glint in his eye, Valdemar approaches his father and cunningly suggests a trade. "Father, if I eat all my peas, can I have double the chocolate ice cream?" he asks, his voice filled with anticipation. His father, caught off guard by the cleverness of his son, considers the proposal for a moment. "Hmm, that's a tempting offer," he replies. "But you know, Valdemar, peas are not only good for you, but they also give you lovely long ears."

Valdemar rolls his eyes, dismissing his father's remarks as mere superstition. "Long ears? Pshh, I don't need those. I want ice cream, and I want it now!" he exclaims. His father, sensing his son's determination, decides to play along. "Very well, Valdemar," he says. "If you eat all your peas, I will give you double the chocolate ice cream."

Valdemar's face lights up with joy. He quickly finishes his plate of peas, relishing the taste of each one as he goes. His father, impressed by his son's dedication, rewards him with not just double the chocolate ice cream, but a whole extra scoop on top. Valdemar's eyes widen in disbelief as he takes his first bite of the heavenly dessert. It is worth every single pea he had to eat.

From that day on, Valdemar learns the value of eating his vegetables, even if he doesn't particularly enjoy them. He realizes that sometimes, doing what is right and healthy can lead to unexpected rewards. And as for his sister Lin, she continues to enjoy her peas, knowing that they are contributing to her overall well-being and that one day, she too will be rewarded with a delicious ice cream cone.
