Spanning a distance of just under 400 kilometers, she replicated the original journey undertaken by Gandhi and his pioneering band of Marchers in 1930. The Dandi Path served as the backdrop against which she delved into the story of modern Gujarat, tracing the contours of the state's seismic shift towards embracing the narrative of development and abandoning the pursuit of swaraj. Gujarat has often been referred to as the laboratory of Hindutva, and this book serves as an exploration of this theme, while also seeking to uncover whether there exist any competing epistemes to it. Memories of the region's past as the setting against which Gandhi experimented with truth, non-violent civil disobedience, and satyagraha loom large in this project. It investigates the lingering presence of the Salt March in Gujarat's cultural memory and endeavors to enrich the contours of the single story of development that the State has become closely associated with.

In February 2019, Harmony Siganporia embarked on an extraordinary journey, walking from Dandi to Ahmedabad, retracing the route of Gandhi's iconic Salt March in reverse.
