This book adopts a corpus-based critical discourse analysis approach and examines a corpus of newspaper articles from Pakistani and Indian publications to gain comparative insights into the ideological construction of China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) within news discourses. This book contributes to the works on perceptions of BRI in English newspapers of India and Pakistan.

A multi-billion-dollar project of BRI or the One Belt One Road" (OBOR),CPEC symbolizes a vision for regional revival under China's economic leadership and clout. Propelled by the Chinese Premier's dream to revive the Chinese economy as well as to restructure and catalyze infrastructural development in Asia,BRI is aimed at connecting Asia via land and sea routes with Europe,Africa, and the Middle Eastern states.

The BRI is a massive undertaking that involves the construction of roads, railways, and other infrastructure projects across a vast region. The project is designed to promote economic growth, trade, and connectivity between China and its neighbors. The CPEC is a specific component of the BRI that focuses on connecting China with Pakistan through a network of roads, pipelines, and power plants.

The CPEC has been controversial for several reasons. Some critics argue that the project is a waste of money and that it will not benefit Pakistan in the long run. Others argue that the project will increase China's influence in Pakistan and could lead to political instability. There are also concerns about the environmental impact of the project, particularly the construction of dams and other infrastructure that could harm the local ecosystem.

Despite these concerns, the CPEC is still moving forward. China has invested billions of dollars in the project, and construction is underway on a number of key infrastructure projects. The project is expected to boost economic growth in both China and Pakistan, and it will also improve connectivity between the two countries.

In conclusion, the CPEC is a significant component of China's BRI project. The project is designed to promote economic growth, trade, and connectivity between China and its neighbors. While there are concerns about the project's environmental impact and political implications, it is still moving forward. The CPEC is expected to have a significant impact on the region's economy and politics in the years to come.
