“It is spring in Melbourne, and I am not there. I had a taste for it before I left for India. The japonica was flowering, and there was a sprinkling of blossom on the plum trees and wild prunus. I wonder if the lilac has bloomed and finished. It is now nearly the end of September. Did the poppies bloom? And the wild azalea? Have the forget-me-nots and the borage covered the garden? Have the roses at Ivanhoe survived the lack of care? What about the persimmon? Are the hollyhocks good this year?”

The vibrant city of Melbourne is experiencing the delightful spring season, but unfortunately, I am not present to witness its beauty. Before embarking on my journey to India, I had a longing for this season, particularly the japonica's flowering and the picturesque plum trees adorned with delicate blossoms. I find myself curious about the status of the lilac, as well as the poppies, wild azalea, forget-me-nots, borage, and roses at Ivanhoe. It has been nearly six months since I left, and I am eager to know if these precious flowers have flourished or faced challenges due to the lack of care.

Furthermore, I am intrigued to learn about the persimmon tree and the hollyhocks' growth this year. The anticipation and curiosity fill me with excitement as I eagerly await news from friends and acquaintances who reside in Melbourne. I trust that the gardens and landscapes will be in full bloom, showcasing the city's natural splendor and the hard work of the dedicated gardeners.

Melbourne's spring season is a testament to the city's vibrant spirit and the resilience of nature. I eagerly await the day when I can return and immerse myself in the warmth and charm of this beautiful city, surrounded by the splendor of its gardens and landscapes.”
