This edited monograph encompasses seven chapters, each delving into recent advancements in the fields of medicine and biology. Chapter One explores the realm of biomedical engineering, where the development of a diverse array of sensors is a crucial requirement. These sensors incorporate information derived from the performance of bio-samples, such as cell cultures or tissues, as well as technical specifications of transducers and constraints imposed by electronic circuits. Within this work, a methodology is presented for designing real-time cell culture monitoring systems. It involves the analysis, modeling, and integration of the influences of electrodes, cell culture, and test circuits into the design flow. Chapter Two contributes to a deeper understanding of the primary pathways involved in the intricate mechanisms triggered in organisms treated with Fe. Chapter Three highlights one of the most significant medical advancements of the past decade: the emergence of personalized medicine. The success of personalized medicine hinges on the availability of accurate diagnostic tests that can identify patients who can benefit from targeted treatment strategies. Over the years, a wide range of omics technologies, including genomics, proteomics, transcriptomics, and metabolomics, have led to the discovery of valuable biomarkers. However, limited attention has been paid to the study of glycomics, an attractive yet relatively unknown technology that holds the potential to develop biomarkers for various diseases. Chapter Four provides valuable information about amoeboid protists, a taxonomically eclectic group that encompasses both amoebae and amoeboflagellates. These single-celled organisms possess the ability to move through a crawling-like motion, while extending pseudopodia (slender or finger-shaped protrusions) from the cell's periphery. Amoeboid protists exhibit remarkable shape variability, and the number and organization of their pseudopodia can vary significantly. In addition, they possess a range of specialized structures and organelles that enable them to carry out diverse biological functions.
