This volume, a continuation of the ceramic history of the Saqqara Anubis temple, was excavated by the Egypt Exploration Society from 1977 to 1979. Volume IV delves into the Late Dynastic Period, spanning from at least the mid-6th century BC onwards. Notably, burials began to occur in both the earlier shaft tombs and a newly established cemetery in the sand. Simultaneously, a temple dedicated to Anubis, the god of the dead, was initiated, abandoned during the Persian Period but later re-established around 400 BC. The ceramics recovered from this site encompass a wide array of items, including bowls used by embalmers, offering vessels, and the craftsmanship of the fourth century builders.
