In the mid-nineteenth century, Atlantic City emerged as a bustling metropolis, experiencing rapid growth and capturing the American imagination. It was hailed as the World's Playground, boasting luxurious hotels, legendary nightclubs, and an endless boardwalk that offered a captivating experience to its visitors. However, as the city's popularity waned, a dark chapter unfolded. The introduction of casinos brought a surge of excitement, but it also led to the city's downfall. Donald J. Trump, a prominent figure in the casino industry, played a significant role in this decline. He built his casinos on a foundation of debt, resulting in financial instability and ultimately bankruptcy. During his presidential campaign, Trump boasted of his success in Atlantic City, claiming to have outsmarted Wall Street and amassed riches through his own name. He promised to replicate his achievements in America, believing that he could bring prosperity and revitalization to the nation. Unfortunately, his promises fell short, and Atlantic City suffered the consequences. Brian Rose, a photographer, has documented the remnants of the city in the aftermath of the casino explosion. The images are haunting, portraying a once-thriving metropolis now in ruins. It is uncertain whether Atlantic City will ever recover from the devastation caused by the casinos.
