Barclay James Harvest, a legendary cult band of the progressive era, broke free from the shadow of the Moody Blues to forge their own path. While celebrated in Germany and parts of Continental Europe, they remained relatively unknown in their native United Kingdom, except to a dedicated fanbase. Formed in the Saddleworth area of northwest England in 1967, the band released a series of acclaimed albums that showcased their pastoral, classically influenced brand of rock. Their success culminated in a massive open-air concert in Berlin in 1979, attracting an estimated quarter of a million people. Despite only one line-up change, the departure of keyboard maestro Woolly Wolstenholme in 1979, the band continued to record until 1998, when they split into two separate groups, led by original members John Lees and Les Holroyd. The core of this book covers Barclay James Harvest's output from 1968 to 1997, with detailed analysis and background information for every studio album and song released during that period. Additionally, there is a comprehensive overview of their live albums and the members' activities after the break-up of the original group. This book is a must-read for anyone with a passion for one of the rock world's most underrated bands.
