The Germans had a secret transmitter on one of their ships in the neutral harbor of Goa, which was used to guide U-boats against Allied shipping in the Indian Ocean. The British had no way to infringe Goa's Portuguese neutrality by force, but they needed to silence the transmitter. SOE was tasked with dealing with the problem, and they remembered that there was a source of possible help 1,400 miles away in Calcutta. A group of civilian bankers, merchants, and solicitors, who were the remains of an old territorial unit called The Calcutta Light Horse, were approached. With a foreword by Earl Mountbatten of Burma, the film tells the story of how the Calcutta Light Horse helped to silence the transmitter and prevent the Germans from using it to attack Allied shipping.
