El río Guadalquivir ha sido un factor identitario de las comunidades asentadas en torno a él, generando diversos paisajes culturales. La situación política,económica y sanitaria de los últimos años ha amenazado su sostenibilidad,con el objetivo de reflexionar sobre esta situación desde múltiples perspectivas y sugerir propuestas para (re)activar las industrias culturales de la cuenca del Guadalquivir.

From its birth in the Sierra de Cazorla to its demise in the Atlantic Ocean, the Guadalquivir River has been an integral part of the history of the communities that have settled around it. The resources provided by the river, its tributaries, and its vast valley have contributed to the survival, well-being, and development of various cultures. As a result of this relationship between humans and land, diverse cultural landscapes have emerged. However, the political, economic, and health situation of recent years has threatened the sustainability of some of these landscapes, as well as their heritage assets, which have been abandoned and forgotten in many cases.

This monograph aims to reflect on this complex situation from multiple perspectives, including archaeology, environmental science, pedagogy, new technologies, and tourism. To achieve this, we have collaborated with renowned professionals and researchers from various academic fields. Together, we have attempted to analyze various realities, expose the patrimonial needs we face today, and suggest proposals to (re)activate the cultural industries of the Guadalquivir basin.

The Guadalquivir River has a rich history that spans thousands of years. It has been an important source of water, food, and transportation for human settlements in the region.
