Climate-smart agriculture (CSA) is a transformative approach to addressing the complex challenges posed by climate change and agriculture. This publication showcases a collection of case studies from around the world, highlighting how CSA is being implemented to tackle these challenges effectively.

The case studies presented in this publication operationalize the five key action points for CSA implementation: expanding the evidence base for CSA, supporting enabling policy frameworks, strengthening national and local institutions, enhancing funding and financing options, and implementing CSA practices at the field level.

By providing examples of the innovative roles that farmers, researchers, government officials, private sector agents, and civil society actors can play in transforming food systems and helping to meet the Sustainable Development Goals, this publication demonstrates the potential for collaboration and collective action.

The case studies also explore context-specific activities that sustainably increase agricultural productivity and incomes, adapt and build resilience of people and food systems to climate change, and reduce and/or remove greenhouse gas emissions where possible.

Through these case studies, we gain valuable insights into the successes and challenges of CSA implementation, as well as the opportunities for scaling up and replicating this approach globally. CSA offers a promising pathway to sustainable agriculture and food systems, and this publication serves as a valuable resource for policymakers, practitioners, and stakeholders interested in promoting climate-resilient and sustainable agriculture.
