Comprehensive Assessment of National Agricultural Research and Extension Systems with a Special Focus on Agricultural Research for Development in Egypt: Analysis and guidelines - Egypt case study

This comprehensive case study was conducted with the primary objective of gaining a thorough understanding of the challenges and opportunities associated with Egypt's agricultural research and organizational development. The study's main goal was to enhance the efforts of Egypt's National Agricultural Research System (NARS) in the field of developmental research by developing an integrated and cohesive approach for research and dissemination of proven technologies and practices. To achieve this objective, the assessment was conducted in close collaboration with key stakeholders, including NARS officials, researchers, extension service providers, and policymakers. A multi-stakeholder approach was adopted to ensure inclusivity and relevance of the findings. The assessment involved a comprehensive review of existing literature, data, and information related to Egypt's agricultural research and organizational development. This included both quantitative and qualitative research methods, such as surveys, interviews, focus group discussions, and case studies.

The findings of the assessment highlighted several key challenges and opportunities facing NARS in Egypt.
