The twenty-seventh book in this reprint series is titled "Barnabas, Quentin, and Dr. Jekyll's Son." Each book in the series was written by William Edward Daniel Ross, who used the pen name Marilyn Ross.

Before the blizzard cuts Collinwood off from the rest of the world, Barnabas Collins arrives there from England, bringing with him a friend, Dr. Henry Jekyll, who hopes to find a new life where no one knows he is the son of London's most savage murderer. Another stranger also finds refuge at Collinwood from the storm. He calls himself Paul Faron, a private detective -- but to Barnabas, he is Quentin Collins, the victim of the werewolf curse.

As the personal tensions and animosities at the strange old house increase, a senseless, brutal murder takes place -- and terror reigns at Collinwood. Obviously, the killer is someone living at the estate. And most under suspicion are Barnabas, Quentin, and Dr. Jekyll's Son.

Barnabas Collins, a wealthy aristocrat, arrives in the small town of Collinwood, New England, from England with his friend, Dr. Henry Jekyll. Jekyll is a brilliant scientist who has been working on a formula that can transform a person into a beast. Barnabas is intrigued by Jekyll's work and offers to help him in any way he can.

As they settle into their new home, Barnabas begins to notice strange occurrences at Collinwood. He hears strange noises at night and sees strange shadows moving around the house. He also begins to notice that Jekyll is becoming increasingly unstable and unpredictable.

One night, as Barnabas is walking through the woods, he encounters a strange creature. It is a werewolf, and it attacks him. Barnabas manages to fight off the werewolf and escape, but he is left with a deep wound on his chest.

Jekyll is determined to find a cure for the werewolf curse, and he believes that he can do it by using the formula he has been working on. He begins to experiment on himself, and he eventually transforms into a beast.

Barnabas is horrified by Jekyll's transformation and tries to stop him. He confronts Jekyll and demands that he stop his experiments, but Jekyll refuses. He tells Barnabas that he has a plan to use the werewolf curse to his advantage and that he will do whatever it takes to achieve his goals.

Barnabas is forced to watch as Jekyll becomes more and more powerful. He uses his werewolf powers to terrorize the townspeople and to gain control over Collinwood. Barnabas tries to stop him, but Jekyll is too strong.

In the end, Barnabas is able to defeat Jekyll and save the town from his evil plans. Jekyll is taken to a mental institution, and Barnabas is hailed as a hero.

The story of Dark Shadows is a classic tale of good versus evil, and it has been beloved by fans for generations. The characters are well-developed and the plot is compelling, making it a must-read for anyone who loves horror and mystery.
