From 1995 to 2007, a comprehensive archaeological survey was conducted in southeastern Shandong Province, China, spanning over 1,400 square kilometers. This groundbreaking multi-year international project revolutionized our understanding of regional settlement patterns from the Neolithic to the Han period in this region. As an update to the 2012 synthesis published in Chinese, this volume offers the most detailed account of the project in English. The team unearthed numerous new sites, including the earliest known Neolithic settlements in the area.
