When Professor Irene Hyde's Monday morning lecture at St Luke's University is rudely interrupted by a man named the Doctor, it's the beginning of an adventure she could never have dreamt possible. Soon, they are hurtling backwards in time to 1806, where the crew of the trading ship Favorite, led by the Ice King himself, Frederic Tudor, are being picked off, one by one, by a hideous monster that lurks in the shadows. A head frozen in ice provides a further complication to matters, as the robotic Nekkre awakes determined to vanquish all-comers. With the Doctor seriously weakened, Irene must tap into hidden reserves of courage if they are to have any hope of returning to 21st Century England.
The Doctor and Irene find themselves on board the Favorite, a trading ship bound for the Arctic Circle. The crew is made up of a diverse group of individuals, each with their own secrets and motivations. The captain, Mr. Tudor, is a ruthless businessman who will stop at nothing to make a profit. His first mate, Mr. Smith, is a loyal and dependable officer who has served the captain for many years. The doctor, of course, is a mysterious figure who claims to be from the future.
As the ship makes its way through the treacherous waters of the Arctic, it becomes clear that something is amiss. The crew begins to disappear one by one, and the Doctor and Irene are left to investigate. They soon discover that the monster that is killing the crew is a creature called the Nekkre, a robotic being created by a group of scientists in the 19th century. The Nekkre is programmed to hunt down and destroy anything that stands in its way, and it has already killed dozens of people on board the Favorite.
The Doctor and Irene must work together to stop the Nekkre before it can destroy the ship and kill everyone on board. They must navigate through dangerous ice floes and treacherous waters, and they must face off against the captain and his crew, who are willing to do anything to protect their profits.
As they work to stop the Nekkre, the Doctor and Irene begin to develop a bond. They learn that they have more in common than they ever thought possible, and they begin to trust each other. They also discover that the Nekkre is not the only threat they face on board the Favorite. There is a traitor among the crew, someone who is willing to sell out their fellow passengers to the captain for a price.
The Doctor and Irene must work together to uncover the traitor and bring them to justice. They must also face off against the Nekkre, which is becoming more and more powerful as it hunts down its prey.
In the end, the Doctor and Irene are able to stop the Nekkre and save the Favorite. They are hailed as heroes by the crew, and they are able to return to 21st Century England with their lives.
The adventure of the Doctor and Irene on board the Favorite is a thrilling and action-packed tale that will keep you on the edge of your seat. It is a story of courage, friendship, and betrayal, and it is a testament to the power of the human spirit to overcome even the most impossible odds.
