Dreaming about tomorrow can be an act of bravery, as seen in the exhibition and publication "Dreaming About Tomorrow" at Nidi Gallery in Tokyo. The exhibition features recent paintings, some in oil and others using natural pigments, including some created from plants grown in the artist's allotment. Photographs from Johanna Tagada Hoffbeck's ongoing series Analog Diary and unique collaborative works with ceramic designer Olivia Fiddes (UK) and weaver Pauline Simonet (France) are also featured. This publication includes a new essay by PhD holder and Oslo University-based researcher Veronika Muchitsch as a written response to the project. Muchitsch suggests that dreaming is not an entirely utopian activity, but rather materializes through actions of care, compassion, and community that weave an intricate fabric of time. In the face of endings, loss, and time standing still, this work inspires us to dare to remember, build the present, and dream of tomorrow, as blurry as it may appear. The publication is printed in England using vegetable inks and edited by T. S. Wendelstein & Johanna Tagada Hoffbeck. Photographs by Kenji Kagawa and Johanna Tagada Hoffbeck are included, along with texts by Veronika Muchitsch, Johanna Tagada Hoffbeck, and Nidi Gallery.
