Stephen Port, a notorious serial killer, was sentenced to prison in November 2016 for his heinous crimes. He targeted young, gay men through dating apps, luring them into his grasp with the promise of a romantic encounter. However, his true intentions were far more sinister. Port drugged his victims, rendering them unconscious, and then proceeded to rape them. His modus operandi was characterized by extreme brutality, as he inflicted unimaginable pain and suffering upon his victims.

The documentary "Easy Kills" delves into the life and crimes of Stephen Port, shedding light on the role of the Barking and Dagenham Police in investigating these crimes. The police officers involved in the case failed to properly examine Port's electronic devices when the first overdosed body turned up outside his flat in June 2014. Despite the obvious signs of foul play, they neglected to open an investigation. This oversight allowed Port to continue his predatory behavior, as he continued to target vulnerable men through dating apps.

Just a few months later, in August 2014, a second body was discovered, this time 400 yards from Port's front door. The young immigrant's corpse showed signs of being dragged, indicating a violent attack. Shockingly, no investigation was launched into this incident. Less than a month later, yet another body turned up in the same churchyard. This time, the victim was Jack Taylor, a young man who had been in contact with Port through a dating app.

Port's reign of terror continued, and he was eventually apprehended in March 2015 after being given an eight-month sentence for perverting the course of justice. However, he served just under three years in prison before he was released in October 2018. Had he served the full sentence, he would not have been free to commit his fourth and final murder, further underscoring the severity of his crimes.

The case of Stephen Port has garnered massive national media attention, resulting in a TV drama airing in January 2022. The documentary "Easy Kills" serves as a chilling reminder of the dangers that lurk in the shadows, highlighting the need for increased awareness and vigilance in the fight against serial killers. It raises important questions about the role of law enforcement in preventing such crimes and the devastating impact that these acts can have on the lives of innocent victims and their families.
