The Electoral-Vote system is a threat to democracy in the US, as it has thwarted the will of the majority of voters twice in the last five presidential elections by elevating to office a candidate who received only a minority of the vote. This system is a distortion of the system envisioned by Alexander Hamilton, James Madison and the other framers of the Constitution and discriminates heavily against minority and poorer voters. It has also opened the door for voter suppression and manipulation of elections by domestic and foreign conspirators.

The current Electoral-Vote system poses a significant and escalating threat to democracy in the United States. It has twice defied the expressed will of the majority of voters, by electing candidates who garnered only a minority of the vote in the last five presidential elections (2000 and 2016). This system deviates from the original vision outlined by Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, and the other architects of the Constitution. Unless challenged and overturned, we are likely to endure a persistent cycle of electoral and constitutional crises.

The constitutional right of Americans to an equal vote in presidential elections is being grossly violated by this system. The value of an individual vote varies significantly, ranging from three to one, depending on the state. There are no two states where voters possess the same voting power. The current Elector system exhibits a profound bias against minority and low-income voters. Moreover, the winner-take-all method of allocating Electoral votes leads to significant waste of votes and a system where the manner in which you vote holds far greater significance than the actual vote itself.

Most concerningly, there is mounting evidence indicating that the Electoral-Vote system has provided a fertile ground for voter suppression and election manipulation by domestic and foreign conspirators. The integrity and fairness of our democratic process are at stake, and urgent action is required to address this pressing issue.
