Fast-tracking implementation of eTrade readiness assessments

UNCTAD established the eT Ready Implementation Support Mechanism (ISM) in 2020 to assist beneficiary countries in implementing eTrade Readiness Assessments. The first implementation review, conducted in 2020, highlighted the progress made by 13 eT Ready beneficiary countries. The 2nd Implementation Review, conducted in 2021, showcased 140 new achievements from 14 countries, building on the lessons learned from the first review. The report was completed in early 2022.

In 2020, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) established the eT Ready Implementation Support Mechanism (ISM) to provide assistance to beneficiary countries in implementing their eTrade Readiness Assessments. The ISM conducts regular implementation reviews to enhance in-country capabilities for effective implementation, following principles of country ownership, inclusivity, and results-based management. The 2020 Implementation Review, the first of its kind, showcased the progress made by 13 eT Ready beneficiary countries, serving as a foundation for subsequent capacity-building, knowledge-sharing, and stakeholder engagement activities. Building upon the insights gained from the first review, the 2nd Implementation Review (IR) was conducted in 2021 with an improved methodology. It highlighted 140 new achievements from 14 participating countries, obtained through a comprehensive review of data collected from in-country stakeholders by the eT Ready Focal Points, in collaboration with a diverse range of stakeholders from line ministries, regulatory agencies, and private sector entities. The 2nd IR concluded in early 2022, with the publication of this report.
