Fox loves playing tricks. But when he plays a trick on his friend Stork, she decides to teach him a lesson. Now Fox will find out how it feels to have a trick played on him!

A humorous re-telling of the famous Aesop fable, written especially for children learning to read, with expert reading advice and wonderful illustrations by John Joven.

Fox, a mischievous creature, couldn't resist the temptation of playing tricks. He delighted in pulling pranks on his fellow animals, especially his friend Stork. However, one day, Stork had enough of Fox's antics and decided to teach him a lesson. With a mischievous glint in her eye, Stork hatched a plan to play a trick on Fox.

The next day, as Fox was wandering through the forest, Stork called out to him. "Fox, come here! I have a surprise for you." Fox, curious and excited, approached Stork with a twinkle in his eye. "What is it, Stork?" he asked, his voice filled with anticipation.

Stork, with a mischievous smile, replied, "I have a basket of delicious berries for you. But there's a catch." Fox's eyes widened in curiosity. "What catch?" he asked, his voice tinged with excitement.

Stork continued, "You have to reach into the basket and take one berry. But you must be careful. I've placed a thorn in the basket, and if you touch it, you'll get pricked." Fox's face paled with fear. "Oh no, Stork! I don't want to get pricked!" he exclaimed, his voice trembling with caution.

Stork, knowing Fox's weakness for berries, chuckled mischievously. "Don't worry, Fox. I promise you, the berries are worth it. Just be careful not to touch the thorn." Fox, still hesitant, took a step forward and reached into the basket. He carefully plucked a berry from the bunch, trying his best to avoid the thorn.

To his surprise, as soon as his hand touched the thorn, he let out a yelp of pain. "Ow! Stork, you tricked me!" he exclaimed, his voice filled with anger. Stork, standing nearby, laughed heartily. "I told you, Fox, I was going to teach you a lesson. Now you know how it feels to have a trick played on you." Fox, feeling embarrassed and foolish, realized that he had been outsmarted by his friend. He apologized profusely to Stork and promised to never play tricks on her again.

From that day on, Fox learned a valuable lesson about the consequences of playing tricks. He realized that it was important to be kind and respectful to others, and that it was not fun to be the victim of a prank. He and Stork became even closer friends, and they continued to share laughter and adventures together.

The story of Fox and Stork serves as a reminder that playing tricks can have serious consequences. It is important to be mindful of the feelings of others and to treat them with kindness and respect. Moreover, it is a fun and entertaining story that children will enjoy reading and learning from.
