Fresh from the Word 2023 is a powerful tool designed to help us cultivate a disciplined habit of Bible reading, grounding us in God's word and fostering the growth of our faith. Through its accessible and engaging content, the book aids our understanding of the Bible and enables us to explore it from various Christian perspectives. One of the central themes of this year's edition is the exploration of 'Hidden Heroes & Heroines,' characters in the Bible who may be overlooked but play a crucial role in the unfolding of the Kingdom. As we delve into their stories, we are encouraged to recognize that our lives, despite their seeming insignificance, are indeed being used by God in ways that may exceed our wildest imagination!

The book also delves into the diverse range of literature found within the Bible. A multitude of international and diverse writers, each bringing their wisdom, understanding, and personal experiences, have contributed their insights to this volume. By unpacking passages written in different styles, such as poetry, law, prophecy, narrative, and apocalyptic, we gain valuable tools for safe interpretation and deeper understanding. The ultimate goal is to unveil what was previously hidden from our sight, shedding light on the profound truths contained within the Scriptures.

Contributors to this year's edition include:

Terry Lester, an Anglican priest with nearly four decades of service in Cape Town, currently serving in Constantia. Terry is a passionate advocate for justice, actively engaged in projects aimed at restoring dignity and fostering reconciliation in his fragmented community.

Immaculée Hedden, a survivor of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, and her husband Richard. Together, they authored the inspiring book, Under His Mighty Hand, sharing their remarkable story of resilience and healing. Currently based in Rwanda, they serve in healing and counseling, providing support to those affected by trauma and adversity.

These contributors, along with many others, have poured their hearts and souls into this project, sharing their insights and experiences to enrich our understanding of the Bible and inspire us on our spiritual journey. Fresh from the Word 2023 is a valuable resource that will deepen our faith, broaden our horizons, and equip us to live out our calling as disciples of Christ.
