To date, there has been a significant gap in our understanding of the communicative and precommunicative processes involved in the construction of group identities. This study aims to bridge that gap by developing a comprehensive and coherent theoretical framework that can effectively capture empirical construction processes. Moreover, this research contributes to the field of group communication studies by providing a fundamental theoretical foundation that can shape our understanding of inter- and intra-group communication.

Rather than starting from objective categories, this theoretical framework takes its cue from de facto socialization processes. This approach allows us to examine the dynamic and fluid nature of group identity formation, as it is shaped by the interactions and experiences of individuals within a group.

In addition to its theoretical significance, this study presents an innovative social theory that is grounded in the construction of group identity. This theory satisfies the epistemological interests of communication studies and has the potential to impact other disciplines as well.

The architecture of this innovative social theory is presented using the example of the construction of group identity. By examining the various factors that contribute to the formation of group identity, such as socialization, communication, and power dynamics, this theory provides a framework for understanding how groups develop and function over time.

Overall, this study represents a significant step forward in our understanding of group communication and identity formation. It offers a theoretical foundation that can be applied to a wide range of contexts and provides a valuable contribution to the field of communication studies.
