  • More about Institutional Change And China Capitalism: Frontier Of Cliometrics And Its Application To China

This edited volume explores the recent take-off of the Chinese economy from a historical perspective, arguing that China's capitalism is a matter of institutional revolution. It utilizes recent developments in cliometrics and complexity economics, macroeconomic dynamics, network analysis, and behavioral finance to illustrate the various facets of China's transition to capitalism. The book is structured in three sections that address empirically, theoretically, and in terms of network structure, the profound institutional change that led China to progressively adopt capitalism.

This edited volume is a compilation of original essays that were initially presented at seminars held at Sichuan University, China, in November 2018 and May 2019, as well as at the 12th International Conference on the Chinese Economy, hosted by the University of Clermont-Ferrand, France, in October 2019. Additionally, three specially commissioned contributions have been included in this publication. The research conducted for this volume received significant support from three French grants: the Hubert Curien Research Fellowship (Program Campus France 2019, 2020, 2021).

All chapters in this volume examine the recent resurgence of the Chinese economy from a historical perspective, expanding the economic evidence that China's capitalism is undergoing a profound institutional transformation. Institutional Change and China Capitalism seeks to present a groundbreaking perspective on the rise of Chinese capitalism by leveraging recent advancements in cliometrics, complexity economics, macroeconomic dynamics, network analysis, and behavioral finance. The chapters within this book innovate the study of China's take-off by pushing the boundaries of research in institutional cliometrics and complexity economics. As a result, the book is organized into three sections, each aimed at addressing the profound institutional change that paved the way for China's gradual adoption of capitalism from empirical, theoretical, and network structure perspectives.

Collectively, these papers serve as a testament to the vibrancy and relevance of current research in cliometrics and complexity economics.
