The concept of intersectionality delves into the interconnectedness or overlap of various categorizations such as race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, socioeconomic class, and physical ability. For Black students who already face disparities, being labeled as "Black and..." (female, queer, or another marginalized identity) can result in encounters that further devalue their identities or make them feel unseen.

Intersectionality in Health Education aims to provoke thoughtful reflection on the current state of health education and ultimately lead to more equitable practices for all students.
