The Kat Briscoe, a ginger-haired eco-worrier, is convinced that there is more to the world than meets the eye. After encountering the ghost of a monk in the ruins of the old Priory in Much Wenlock, she becomes obsessed with exploring the supernatural and embarking on trips with her best friend, Marcos. Unlike her classmates, she harbors a secret belief that Santa Claus is real. Shortly before her twelfth birthday, a mysterious gift materializes, granting her the ability to transmogrify at will into a pygmy goat.

As she navigates her newfound powers, she finds herself spending time in Pets Corner, interacting with the adorable but mischievous Hooligoats. However, the revelation that Kat is descended from an ancient, female-only line of genetically modified Icelandic elf throws her world into chaos. Grandma, who arrives to assist Mom, explains the intricate details of their lineage and the importance of their mission. Meanwhile, Pop, who is human, tries to help by learning Hoolispeak, much to the amusement of the goats.

However, their peaceful existence is disrupted when the police arrive at their house, initiating a frantic search for answers. Could Kat be the Huldufólk girl, destined to fulfill The Prophecy and harness the power of Mother Earth to defend her people against emerging evils? As Mother Earth plays hard-to-get and the evils they face are more terrifying than anything Dracula could ever imagine, the group realizes that the price of finding the truth may be steep.

With determination and courage, they embark on a perilous journey to uncover the truth and protect their homeland from the forces of darkness. Along the way, they encounter various challenges and obstacles, testing their strength and resilience. As they unravel the mysteries of their past and embrace their true identities, they discover that their fate is intertwined with the fate of the entire world.

In the end, Kat and her friends emerge victorious, using their powers and knowledge to defend their people and preserve the balance of Mother Earth. Their journey has been a testament to the power of friendship, courage, and self-discovery, and they have left a lasting impact on the world.
