However, dating and cultural tradition assignment have been challenging. This volume presents the first comprehensive report on the excavations and finds at the site, with over 300 illustrations.

The archaeological site at Killarney Bay, located on the northeast side of Georgian Bay in Ontario, Canada, has captivated and perplexed archaeologists for decades. The abundance of copper artifacts, exotic cherts, and long-distance trade goods underscores the site's significance during its period of occupation. However, researchers have faced challenges in dating the site or assigning it to a specific cultural tradition, as the artifacts and mortuary components do not align precisely with those of other sites and assemblages in the Upper Great Lakes. The history of archaeological investigation at Killarney Bay spans over three centuries and includes field schools from universities in two countries: Laurentian University in Canada and the University of Michigan in the United States. This volume brings together the findings from all previous research conducted at the site and presents the first comprehensive report ever published on the excavations and discoveries at Killarney Bay. Richly illustrated, the book provides a detailed account of the site's history and the various archaeological discoveries made over the years.
