The establishment of architectural structures is governed by DIN 1054 and the accompanying Grundbaunormen, which are listed in the Technical Building Regulations. Following this, pure Pfahl foundations or flat foundations can be measured and constructed.
However, the combination of these two foundation elements had not been previously regulated. This gap is addressed by the guideline for the design, measurement, and construction of combined Pfahl-Platten foundations (KPP), also known as the KPP guideline.
In the present book, the KPP guideline is supplemented with the annex to the KPP guideline, which consists of two parts: Part A: Regarding the mechanical model and safety provisions, Part B: Calculation examples.
The annex provides background information on mechanical models, safety assessments based on probability, and includes two practical examples.
The first example examines the internal and external stability of a bridge pier foundation. Four foundation variants are discussed in detail, expanding the application range of KPP.
The second example focuses on the external stability of a office building foundation. Three foundation variants are discussed. Since the calculation of internal stability does not provide new insights, it is omitted here. Since the approach to determining external stability is similar to the first example, only the results are presented.
The results of both examples for determining external stability serve as benchmark examples for evaluating simplified calculation approaches.
