Der Band setzt sich mit der grundlegenden Frage nach den Anforderungen an den Umgang mit literarischen (Erzähl-)Texten im Abitur auseinander. Hierfür werden die bildungsinstitutionellen Vorgaben für das Deutschabitur sowie ausgewählte Deutschbücher für die Oberstufe analysiert. Die Grundlage dieser Analyse bilden ausgewählte literaturtheoretische Positionen. Diese werden mithilfe literaturdidaktischer Modellierungen auf ihre Anbindbarkeit an schulische Prozesse überprüft. Hieran anknüpfend werden Strategien entwickelt, mit deren Hilfe den Abiturerwartungen an das ‚Verstehen‘ literarischer (Erzähl-)Texte begegnet werden kann. Die Ausführungen sind angebunden an ein interdisziplinäres Forschungsprojekt zu Texten im Fachunterricht.
