The Beatles Album Series Will Return was the last published book by the author, but when travel restrictions were imposed due to Covid 19, he needed to work on a book that he could research from home. He decided to produce a book covering Magical Mystery Tour and Yellow Submarine, as the songs for both projects were recorded after Sgt. Pepper and before The White Album. The British section precedes the American section, as the Capitol Magical Mystery Tour LP was an expansion of the British EP.

In the introductory pages of my last published book, The Beatles Finally Let It Be, I embarked on a creative endeavor by rephrasing the iconic ending of the James Bond films from the sixties. I expressed my anticipation for what book would come next, but the unforeseen challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic forced me to adapt and work on a project that I could research from the comfort of my home. As I delved into the vast array of information available online about the Beatles' activities during 1967 and 1968, I quickly realized that there was a wealth of material to explore. This prompted me to change my plans and embark on the production of a book that would delve into the captivating world of Magical Mystery Tour and Yellow Submarine.

The timing of these projects was particularly interesting, as the songs for both were recorded after Sgt. Pepper and before The White Album. The natural pairing of these two albums seemed fitting, especially considering the four new Beatles songs featured on the Yellow Submarine album would have made for a relatively small book. However, I decided to approach the book differently, deviating from the previous format of the Beatles Album Series. In this edition, the British section precedes the American section, a departure from the previous books that covered albums that were essentially the same in both countries. This change was inspired by the fact that I grew up with American records and considered the United States to be the Beatles' biggest market.

For this particular book, I chose to start with England, as the Capitol Magical Mystery Tour LP was an expansion of the British EP. This decision allowed me to delve deeper into the origins and influences of these iconic Beatles albums. As I continue with the remaining books in the series, which will cover the Beatles albums released before 1967, I plan to follow a similar structure. The British perspective will serve as the foundation, followed by a comprehensive account of what transpired in America.
