Over the past few decades, numerous studies have uncovered heightened levels of naturally occurring radioactive material (NORM) in waste and residue from a diverse array of industrial activities that are not associated with the nuclear fuel cycle. Member States have encountered significant difficulties in developing feasible and implementable strategies for the effective management of these NORM wastes and residues. The present proceedings publication stems from the IAEA conference, NORM 2020, convened to address these challenges.
