- More about March 1917: The Red Wheel, Node III, Book 3
In March 1917, the forces of revolutionary disintegration spread from Petrograd to the front lines of World War I, presaging Russia's collapse. The Red Wheel is a multivolume epic work by Nobel prize-winner Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn about the Russian Revolution, told in the form of a historical novel. Book 3, set during March 16–22, 1917, sees the Romanov dynasty end and the revolution start to roll out from Petrograd toward Moscow and the Russian provinces. The Provisional Government and the Soviet of Workers and Soldiers Deputies continue to exercise power in parallel, but the Soviets' "Order No. 1" reaches every soldier, undermining the officer corps and shaking the Army to its foundations. Many officers, including the head of the Baltic Fleet, Admiral Nepenin, are murdered. Black Sea Fleet Admiral Kolchak holds the revolution at bay, while Grand Duke Nikolai Nikolaevich, the emperors uncle, makes his way to military headquarters, naively thinking he will be allowed to take the Supreme Command.

In March 1917, a revolutionary wave of disintegration spread from Petrograd, reaching the front lines of World War I, signaling the impending collapse of Russia.
The Red Wheel, a masterpiece of world literature, is Nobel prize-winner Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn's monumental multivolume epic work that chronicles the Russian Revolution in the form of a historical novel.
March 1917, the third node, delves into the day-by-day narrative of the Russian Revolution itself. Until recently, the final two nodes, Book 1 and Book 2, were unavailable in English. However, the publication of Book 1 in 2017 and Book 2 in 2019 has begun to rectify this situation.
Book 3, the third and final installment, takes place from March 16 to 22, 1917. In this book, the Romanov dynasty comes to an end, and the revolution begins to spread from Petrograd toward Moscow and the Russian provinces. The dethroned Emperor Nikolai II bids farewell to the Army and is confined under guard with his family. In Petrograd, the Provisional Government and the Soviet of Workers and Soldiers Deputies continue to exercise power in parallel. The war hero Lavr Kornilov is appointed as the military chief of Petrograd. However, the Soviets' "Order No. 1" reaches every soldier, undermining the officer corps and shaking the Army to its foundations. Numerous officers, including the head of the Baltic Fleet, Admiral Nepenin, a progressive figure, are brutally murdered. Admiral Kolchak of the Black Sea Fleet holds the revolution at bay, while Grand Duke Nikolai Nikolaevich, the emperor's uncle, naively believes he will be allowed to assume the Supreme Command.
