Over the past few years, mental health has emerged as an unseen pandemic that society grapples with, struggling to accept and address this disease. However, it is crucial to delineate the line between normalcy and poor mental well-being. Who holds responsibility for this societal challenge?

Mental as Anything is a personal narrative that explores my life, which, while neither ordinary nor exceptional, is the path I have traversed. Within this novel, I share my experiences and challenges, which have molded me and brought me to my knees. This story is told through the eyes of the person I have evolved into over the past three years. This individual represents a culmination of three factors: the behavior of a minority within society, my capacity for acceptance, and my ability to rebuild.

The behavior of a minority within society has played a significant role in shaping my journey. I have encountered individuals who have perpetuated stereotypes, stigmatized mental health issues, and propagated harmful beliefs. These experiences have left me feeling isolated, alone, and powerless. However, it was through my ability to accept these challenges that I was able to overcome them. I recognized that my mental health was not a weakness but a strength, and I sought out support and resources to help me navigate my journey.

Acceptance was a key factor in my ability to rebuild. I learned to embrace my imperfections, recognize my strengths, and celebrate my uniqueness. I stopped comparing myself to others and instead focused on my own growth and development. I surrounded myself with positive influences, such as friends, family, and professionals who supported and encouraged me. Through acceptance, I was able to heal and find meaning in my life.

Rebuilding was not an easy process, but it was essential for my mental well-being. I engaged in self-care practices such as exercise, meditation, and therapy. I sought out new experiences and challenges to keep myself engaged and motivated. I also made a conscious effort to build relationships with others, to create a sense of community and support.

In conclusion, mental health has become an unseen epidemic that society struggles to accept and address. However, the failure to accept normal life does not necessarily equate to poor mental health. It is crucial to delineate the line between normalcy and poor mental well-being and to hold individuals accountable for their behavior. Through acceptance, support, and self-care, individuals can rebuild and find meaning in their lives, despite the challenges they may face.
