  • More about Metamorphosis of Turkish Foreign Policy in the 21st Century: Opportunities and Challenges

Turkey's new enterprising and humanitarian foreign policy is an effort to locate it better in the 21st global politics. This edited volume sheds light on the ambiguous mechanisms by which these principles are implemented in practice, and how the framework customizes its tools and capacities in various international regions.

Format: Hardback
Length: 390 pages
Publication date: 15 April 2023
Publisher: Lexington Books

The dissolution of the post-World War II order necessitated Turkey to assume a fresh and dynamic role in the emerging multi-centered and multipolar world, characterized by the emergence of new players from diverse regions across the globe. In response, Turkey has embarked on a novel and forward-thinking foreign policy aimed at positioning itself more effectively in the 21st century global politics. While there is a wealth of literature on the principles guiding Turkish foreign policy, the actual mechanisms by which these principles are translated into practice remain somewhat unclear, particularly within the country's recently established Turkish foreign policy framework. This edited volume seeks to shed light on this relatively unexplored aspect of Turkish foreign policy. Through a critical analysis of several case studies from various geographical locations, this volume elucidates the reasons behind Turkey's development of a new foreign policy framework and the methods employed to implement it worldwide. Furthermore, this volume critically examines how the new Turkish foreign policy framework adapts its tools and capabilities to suit the unique dynamics of different international regions.
