When Mo meets a small wild beast, her family is terrified. Wild beasts are dangerous. But could this wild beast save baby Babba from a hungry lynx and become a friend to the whole family? And then what would they call him? DOG!

This delightful, heart-warming story about a Stone-Age family and the first dog is inspired by the amazing recent discovery of a child's footprint alongside a dog's pawprint in the Chauvet cave in France – from 26,000 years ago!

Mo, a young girl living in a Stone-Age family, discovers a small wild beast in the forest. At first, her family is scared of it, as wild beasts are known to be dangerous. However, Mo decides to befriend the beast and names it Babba.

As Mo spends more time with Babba, she realizes that he is gentle and kind. Babba helps Mo's family by hunting for food and protecting them from predators. He even saves baby Babba from a hungry lynx one day.

Over time, Babba becomes a beloved member of the family. Mo's parents no longer fear him and even allow him to sleep inside their cave. Mo's siblings play with him and treat him as if he were their own pet.

One day, while Mo and Babba are out hunting, they come across a group of humans. The humans are amazed by Babba and offer to trade with Mo's family for him. Mo's parents are hesitant at first, but they eventually agree to the trade.

The humans take Babba away and give him a new home. Mo is heartbroken, but she knows that Babba will be happy with his new family. She also knows that she will never forget the special bond that she shared with him.

Years pass, and Mo grows up. She becomes a skilled hunter and a respected member of her community. She often thinks about Babba and wonders what happened to him. One day, while out hunting, Mo comes across a group of humans who are living in the same area as her family. They are amazed by her hunting skills and ask her to join their community.

Mo is hesitant at first, but she eventually decides to join the humans. She learns about their technology and their way of life. She also meets a man named Jack, who becomes her friend and eventually her husband.

As Mo settles into her new life, she never forgets about Babba. She often tells stories about him to her children and grandchildren, and they are fascinated by the story of the first dog.

In the end, Mo realizes that Babba was not just a wild beast, but a special friend who taught her the value of kindness and compassion. She is grateful for the time that they spent together and knows that he will always be a part of her family's history.
