This delightful book, while not entirely focused on the trials and tribulations of parking, delves deeply into the realms of cricket and football, and serves as a captivating memoir from a veteran sports writer for the Daily Mail. Over the course of my career, I have had the privilege of writing about approximately 350 remarkable individuals I have either interviewed or encountered. Among my heroes, Denis Compton stands out as a truly inspirational figure. At the tender age of 11, while confined to the hospital, I found solace in listening to captivating accounts of his dynamic batting prowess following World War II. Another hero of mine, Lord Learie Constantine, was a remarkable all-round cricketer who left an indelible mark on the sport. I had the honor of penning articles about him for the Daily Sketch. Notably, Lord Constantine was the first Afro-Caribbean to attain the esteemed title of a Lord, and as a barrister, he shattered the color barrier in the High Court by securing damages of five guineas. His unwavering commitment to promoting diversity extended beyond legal victories, as he also provided invaluable advice for the Race Relations Acts. Regrettably, the current generation has yet to fully recognize the extraordinary contributions of this remarkable and lovable man. To rectify this, we are actively campaigning for the installation of a statue of Lord Constantine in the Parliament Estate, where he would join the existing three black statues, in stark contrast to the nearly 300 white statues found in the borough of Westminster.
