"Wouldn't it be fun to have a friend living right next door to you? Well, as Norton discovers, it can certainly pose some challenges when that friend wants to borrow all your favorite things, even your special fuzzy slippers.
This is a story about setting limits and learning to accept your friends, flaws, and all. It introduces readers to the important skill of boundary-setting in a funny, accessible way that will help them share and borrow without regrets.
Norton is a curious and imaginative bear who loves to explore his surroundings. He lives in a cozy cave deep in the forest and spends his days playing with his toys, reading books, and exploring the nearby river.
One day, Norton meets a new friend, a rabbit named Ruby. Ruby is a fun-loving and energetic rabbit who loves to play and explore as much as Norton does. They quickly become best friends and spend all their time together.
However, as time goes on, Norton realizes that Ruby is a bit of a borrower. She loves to borrow Norton's toys, books, and even his fuzzy slippers. Norton doesn't mind sharing his things, but he also wants to have some things that are just for him.
One day, Norton decides to set a boundary with Ruby. He tells her that he is happy to share his things, but he needs some time to himself too. Ruby is initially disappointed, but she soon realizes that Norton is just being fair. She starts to respect his boundaries and gives him some space to himself.
As Norton and Ruby continue to be friends, they learn to appreciate each other's differences and strengths. Norton learns to be more assertive and to stand up for himself, while Ruby learns to be more considerate and to listen to others.
Through their friendship, Norton and Ruby also learn the importance of setting boundaries in other areas of their lives. They learn to say no to things that don't align with their values and to prioritize their own needs and well-being.
