Almost every boy has at some time made a kite. But few boys have ever made a kite with so much a mind of its own as Obstreperous. Though it was made in the normal way, with sticks and string and paper and rags, it did not fly in anything like a normal way. At first, it did not fly at all because there was no wind. And then, when the winds came, it dipped and bounced and created all sorts of problems for its maker. In the end, too, it had its way and left some people happy and some a little sad.
Obstreperous is a story about a young boy named Jack who loves to fly kites. He spends his days building and flying his kites, but one day he comes across a strange kite that seems to have a mind of its own. The kite refuses to fly, no matter how hard Jack tries to make it fly.
Jack is determined to make the kite fly, and he spends hours trying to figure out what is wrong with it. He tries changing the strings, the paper, and the sticks, but nothing seems to work.
Finally, Jack decides to take the kite to a kite expert to see if they can figure out what is wrong with it. The kite expert is amazed by the kite and takes it apart to examine it.
He discovers that the kite is made of a special material that is able to fly on its own, without any help from Jack. The kite expert explains that the kite is a rare and unique find, and he is excited to see it fly again.
Jack is overjoyed to hear that the kite can fly on its own, and he takes it back to his backyard to fly it. The kite soars through the sky, higher and higher than Jack has ever seen it fly before.
Obstreperous is a beautiful story about the power of imagination and the importance of never giving up on your dreams. It teaches us that even when things seem impossible, we should never give up on ourselves and keep trying until we succeed.
