  • More about Paint It Black

Cheever Sanders, the younger brother of Outbreak Monkey's frontman Mackey Sanders, seeks to forge his own path in music despite living in his brother's shadow. Blake Manning, one of Outbreak Monkey's lead guitarists, is frustrated with Cheever's spending habits and confronts him at a party. However, what he finds is a lost boy with a talent for painting, similar to Mackey's for music. Blake and Cheever bond over their shared experiences of childhood abuse and the challenges of overcoming personal struggles. They realize that their true potential lies in supporting and empowering each other rather than competing for fame.

Everybody believes that Mackey Sanders' Outbreak Monkey is the final incarnation of Rock n Roll Jesus, but Cheever Sanders is eager to forge his own path, free from the expectations that come with filling his famous brother's shoes. He yearns to break free from their shadow.

Blake Manning has been a lead guitarist for Outbreak Monkey for ten years. He secured this position through luck and love, rather than talent. When he learns that Cheever is squandering Outbreak Monkey's hard-earned money on an extravagant partying spree, he becomes infuriated.

Blake arrives at Cheever's non-stop orgy to impose some rules, only to encounter a lost boy with an exceptional talent for painting, akin to Mackey's prowess in song-making. However, Cheever is terrified of revealing his true self to the world, owing to childhood abuse and a previous suicide attempt.

Both men must come to terms with being secondary figures in the public eye. Can they discover the magic of achieving absolute first place together?
