In a frozen sea, a rockhopper egg lies safe and warm in its stony nest. Daddy Penguin watches over it, waiting for the night to grow inky black. However, he falls into a deep sleep and doesn't hear the egg cracking. Daddy Penguin is then adrift in an unfamiliar world and must find his way home for his egg. He hitchhikes lifts with kind folk, using various means of transportation, in a race against time to return home.
