Lucas Barrett is a hardworking office clerk who spends his days managing the daily operations of the office. However, when the sun sets, he transforms into a struggling superhero, dedicating his evenings and weekends to fighting crime and protecting his city. Despite his passion for justice, Lucas faces financial constraints as he needs to invest in costume repairs and attend Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes, which strain his tight budget.
In an effort to alleviate his financial burdens, Lucas volunteers as a test subject for a pharmaceutical company's trial painkiller. He hopes that the compensation he will receive will help him cover his expenses and continue his heroic efforts. However, what he doesn't anticipate is the horrifying ordeal that awaits him during the trial. The experimental drug leaves Lucas with regenerative powers, transforming him into a hybrid creature known as the Human-Lizard.
At first, Lucas is overwhelmed by his newfound abilities. He can heal himself quickly, regenerate lost limbs, and even withstand extreme temperatures. He sees this as a chance to become a stronger and more effective superhero, ready to take on any challenge that comes his way. However, his excitement is short-lived when a super villain interrupts his first date with a beautiful woman named Emily. The villain, known as the Lizard King, has a personal vendetta against Lucas and wants to destroy him and his city.
Determined to protect his loved ones and his city, Lucas harnesses his newfound powers to confront the Lizard King. The battle is intense, with Lucas using his agility and strength to take down the villain. In the end, Lucas emerges victorious, and the Lizard King is defeated.
As Lucas reflects on the events of the night, he realizes that his experience with the experimental drug has not only given him regenerative powers but also a deeper understanding of himself and his motivations. He has learned that true heroism is not about seeking fame or glory but about using his abilities to make a positive impact on the world around him.
From that day forward, Lucas continues to fight crime as the Human-Lizard, using his powers to help those in need and protect his city from harm. He may be a struggling superhero, but he is determined to make a difference and inspire others to follow in his footsteps.
Collecting issues #1-5 with bonus material from the limited-run Made in Chinatown mini-comics, including the first crossover with Captain Canuck, this volume is a must-have for fans of superheroes and adventure.
