Both aircraft were prominent along the British coastline due to their bright yellow coloring. The Westland Wessex was utilized by the RAF for various purposes, including search and rescue operations. In 1968, the Aérospatiale Puma was introduced into service with the RAF, and it remains in operation today. The Boeing Chinook, which entered service in 1981, was specifically deployed in the Falklands War and continues to serve the RAF today.
