The sixth collection of plays from award-winning playwright Richard Bean includes the world-conquering hit One Man, Two Guvnors, as well as Young Mar x, his riotous take on Karl Marx's life in London, which launched London's new Bridge Theatre and The Hypocrite, a historical-farcical romp that lit up Hull's year as City of Culture.

One Man, Two Guvnors, based on Carlo Goldoni's classic Italian comedy The Servant of Two Masters, is a hilarious exploration of sex, food, and money. It won the 2011 Evening Standard Theatre Best New Play and Critic's Circle Best New Play awards.

Young Marx follows the life of Karl Heinrich Marx, a brilliant but troubled man who is plagued by creditors, spies, rival revolutionary factions, and prospective seducers of his beautiful wife. His writing is blocked, his marriage is dying, and his friend Engels is in despair at his wasted genius. His only hope is a job on the railway.

The Hypocrite is set in April 1642, during the Civil War in England. Sir John Hotham, Governor of Hull, is charged by Parliament to secure the arsenal at Hull and deny entry to King Charles I. However, with a Royalist siege outside the city walls and the rebellion of the mob within, Civil War seems inevitable, and losing his head is more than probable.

Richard Bean's plays are known for their witty dialogue, sharp wit, and ability to capture the essence of historical events. They have been performed in theaters around the world and have received critical acclaim.

One Man, Two Guvnors has been adapted into a film, and Young Marx has been adapted into a television series. The Hypocrite has been performed in several theaters, including the Bridge Theatre in London.

Richard Bean's plays are a testament to his talent as a playwright and his ability to bring history to life on stage. Whether you are a fan of historical drama or just looking for a good laugh, his plays are sure to entertain.
