Ahad Cobb's life took an unexpected turn after emerging from his teenage years and graduating in the tumultuous sixties. Lost and adrift, a chance road trip with a friend led him to the profound influence of Ram Dass. This encounter sparked a passionate journey of spiritual awakening and deep engagement with three spiritual communities that thrived during the sixties and continue to flourish today: the Ram Dass satsang, the Lama Foundation, and the Dances of Universal Peace. In his memoir, Cobb shares his profound opening to the inner life, encompassing his poetry, dreams, spiritual passions, and astrological insights. The narrative begins with his immersive summer with Ram Dass and his satsang, where he immersed himself in meditation, devotion, and the grace of gurus. His path took him to New Mexico, where he joined the newly established Lama Foundation, an intentional spiritual community. There, he lived on the land for thirteen years, experiencing the disciplines and rewards of communal living and spiritual practice. At Lama, Cobb was initiated into universal Sufism, following the tradition of Hazrat Inayat Khan and the Dances of Universal Peace. He embarked on travels overseas, visiting Sufis in Chamonix, Istanbul, Konya, and Jerusalem.

After the birth of his son, Cobb transitioned from his life on the mountain and served as a sacred dance leader and musician for 35 years in Santa Fe and later Albuquerque. When the Lama Foundation faced a devastating forest fire in 1996, Cobb stepped in as a trustee, guiding the community's rebuilding efforts. Throughout his memoir, Cobb imparts insights from his personal work with Jungian analysis and trauma release, shares his quest for and discovery of his soul mate, and delves into his twelve years of study with Hart DeFouw in the wisdom stream of Vedic astrology.

This memoir offers a poignant reflection on life lived from the inside out, exploring the delicate balance between spirituality and psychology. It invites readers on an outer and inner journey steeped in introspection, offering a profound exploration of the human spirit and its quest for meaning.
