Roman Bath has been the site of extensive excavations for nearly three centuries, with archaeological discoveries made both by chance and through deliberate investigations. While the Baths were opened to the public in the 1860s, little was published about them. However, interest in the site grew significantly in the 1950s, with professionals and amateurs collaborating to uncover new discoveries. Since 1971, there has been a popular and authoritative presentation of the work, with updates made over the years. In recent decades, archaeological investigations have been conducted almost every year, shedding new light on the town of Aquae Sulis and its inhabitants. In this book, Peter Davenport, who has been involved in most of the archaeological work in Bath since 1980, aims to provide an interim report on the 'Three Hundred Year Dig' at Roman Bath.
