Paul Hannon's life is in shambles after he flunked out of vet school, lost his fiancée, and is struggling to make ends meet. He feels trapped in a mundane existence, surrounded by the remnants of his past and a lot of emotional baggage. However, everything changes when he meets El, a pawnbroker with a cynical view on love and relationships.

El Rozal is a man who has been hurt by his own family's dysfunction and believes that love and relationships only lead to misery. Despite this, he cannot help but be drawn to Paul, who is talented, kind, and worthy of love. However, Paul is unaware of his own qualities and is still hung up on his ex-fiancée, who is probably straight.

As El continues to spend time with Paul, he realizes that he is falling for him. However, he is hesitant to admit his feelings, fearing that he will only cause Paul more pain. He tries to convince himself that attachment is not worth it, but deep down, he knows that it is.

One day, El must confront his own demons and admit his feelings to Paul. He knows that it may be a risk, but he also knows that it is the only way to keep the man he loves. It is a difficult conversation, but ultimately, Paul realizes that he has been blind to El's attraction all along. He admits that he is still not over his ex-fiancée, but he also realizes that he has been denying his own feelings for El.

In the end, Paul and El are able to overcome their obstacles and find happiness together. They learn that love and relationships can be complicated, but they are also worth it. They discover that attachment can be a source of strength and support, and that it is possible to find love and happiness even in the most unexpected places.
