Between December 19, 2021, and January 14, 2022, in response to a request from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forests (MoA&F), the Food Security Technical Secretariat (FSTS), supported by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the World Food Programme (WFP), and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), conducted its annual Crop and Food Supply and Assessment Mission (CFSAM). The objective of this mission was to comprehensively assess the crop production and food supply situation across the 18 states of the country.

The CFSAM team comprised a diverse group of experts, including agricultural scientists, meteorologists, nutritionists, and economists, who worked tirelessly to gather and analyze relevant data. They visited numerous farms, fields, and markets throughout the country, conducting surveys and interviews with farmers, producers, and local communities to gather firsthand information about crop yields, production practices, and food availability.

The mission's findings were comprehensive and insightful, providing valuable insights into the current state of agriculture and food security in the country. According to the report, the overall crop production in the country had been satisfactory, with some regions experiencing better yields than others. However, there were concerns about the distribution of food, with some areas facing food shortages due to factors such as drought, floods, and other natural disasters.

To address these challenges, the government and various stakeholders have taken several steps, including implementing emergency food relief programs, providing subsidies to farmers, and improving infrastructure for food storage and transportation. The CFSAM report also highlighted the need for continued investment in agriculture and rural development, as well as the importance of promoting sustainable farming practices to ensure long-term food security.

In conclusion, the CFSAM mission was a crucial step in understanding the crop production and food supply situation in the country. The findings of the mission have provided valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities facing agriculture and food security in the country, and have helped to inform the government's policies and programs to address these issues. The mission's success demonstrates the importance of collaboration and coordination among various stakeholders, including the government, international organizations, and local communities, in ensuring food security and promoting sustainable agriculture.
