This standard establishes the minimum requirements for full-encirclement-type band repair clamps and full-encirclement service connection clamps used in various pipe materials, including system components, testing, and marking requirements. These clamps are designed for repairing or tapping service connections in potable water, wastewater, and reclaimed water piping systems. They are suitable for nominal pipe sizes ranging from 2 inches (50 mm) to 12 inches (300 mm).

Full-encirclement repair clamps must be manufactured entirely from stainless steel or a combination of stainless-steel band and cast ductile-iron lug, along with stainless or low-alloy carbon steel bolts and nuts. The choice of materials depends on service requirements and the purchaser's documents. Tapped service connection outlets can be provided, ranging from 1/2 inches (12 mm) to 3 inches (75 mm) in size, with either NPT or AWWA-type threaded connections. It is important to note that this standard does not cover stainless-steel tapping saddles with a non-fully circumferential seal.

For larger than 12-inch (300-mm) nominal pipe diameters, repair clamps are available from various manufacturers but are not covered by this specific standard.
