Das Buch befasst sich mit der Positionierung von Privat- und Kleingärtner*innen sowie Autorenkollektiven von Informations- und Ratgeberbroschüren zum Insektenschutz. Über Interviews wird erhoben, wie Gärtner*innen zu Insekten stehen und warum sie möglicherweise keine insektenschonende Gartenpraxis umsetzen. Vor diesem Hintergrund wird geprüft, wie in Broschüren des Insektenschutzdiskurses für ein insektenschonendes Verhalten im Garten argumentiert wird und ob Gartenpraxis und Vorbehalte der Gärtner*innen dort aufgegriffen werden. Methodisch wird das Konzept des Stancetakings mit der linguistischen Diskursanalyse verknüpft und die sogenannte Stance-Raute als Modell für die ökolinguistische Diskursanalyse vorgeschlagen. Das Ergebnis der Untersuchung ist die Rekonstruktion von sechs Kontroversen zum Insektenschutz im Garten, die sehr unterschiedlich in den Broschüren aufgegriffen werden. Neben der Darlegung und Veranschaulichung der Argumentationsmuster in den Biodiversitätsbroschüren werden diese auch kritisch, auf Basis einer sogenannten "ecosophy", reflektiert.
